283,000 Bees Short of a Record

Chinese beekeeper She Ping covered his body with an estimated 331,000 bees weighing a total of 33.1kg in Chongqing Municipality in SW China which local reports claimed as a world record.

Guinness World Records, however, says that the Vipin Seth of India was covered by 61.4kg of bees in 2009 which the Indian Agricultural Research Institute calculated to be about 613,500 bees.

She Ping's feat, in preparation for which he did not wash for three days in order to attract more bees, definitely sets a new Chinese record.
