VAMPIRES

The earliest reference to vampires in England occurs in Walter Map's De Nagis Curialium, written in 1190.

This was some 700 years before Bram Stoker created Dracula.

Recent research links references to vampirism to outbreaks of rabies, of which the symptoms may include sensitivity to light and garlic and a tendency to bite people.

In 1999 in the United States, 907 people took out insurance against turning into vampires or werewolves.
