PORTER, Cole (1891-1964)

After his first show was a Broadway flop, Cole Porter joined the French Foreign Legion and won the Croix de Guerre in 1917.

He had a leg amputated after a riding accident in 1937 and had a piano built around his bed so he could continue work.
