WEIRD FACTS ABOUT
ORANGE

curly underline

ORANGE

Brazil produces more oranges than any other country. Its 2007 figure of over 18 million tonnes was more than twice as much as that of the USA, which is the second most prolific orange producer. The total annual world orange production, if squeezed, would fill 12,781 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

Research published in Germany in 2001 showed that the smell of oranges reduces fear and stress in women who are waiting to see a dentist but has no effect on men.

In Spanish, the verb anaranjear means 'to kill a cock by throwing oranges at it'.
