JACKSON, Michael (1958-2009)

Madame Tussaud's in London made 13 wax figures of Michael Jackson during his career, more than anyone else except Queen Elizabeth II.

Jackson's pets included Bubbles the chimp, Ben the rat, a ram called Mr Tibbs, a python called Crusher and Louie the llama.

In the spring of 1986, the British Virgin Islands announced plans to release postage stamps featuring Michael Jackson after locals had voted him the man they most admired.

Shortly before their release, however, the stamps were cancelled owing to regulations stating that stamps bearing the likeness of living persons must be members of the Royal Family.

The Caribbean island of St Vincent, however, did later issue stamps with Michael Jackson's face on them.

In 1992. Jackson was crowned King of Sanwi during impressive ceremonies held in the Village of Krindjabo, located near Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
