HALITOSIS

Mr White's Halitosis Detector was patented in 1925 and consisted of a device that trapped the human breath while exhaling. A small pair of bellows was attached to let the trapped air be expelled, enabling the user to sniff it.

On 20 October 1997, the University of British Columbia, Canada, announced a bad-breath-testing service including both scientific analysis for halitosis and assessment by a human nose.
