CUFFLINKS

Police in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, asked the public to help in their search for a one-armed man who has stolen a single cufflink, in the shape of a boxing glove, from a jeweller. The gold cufflink was valed at £120 and had been taken by the man after he knocked over a tray of them. An assistant at the shop said, "It wasn't until we watched the CCTV we saw he had an empty sleeve in his pocket."

A police spokjesman said, "A man fitting the same description was acting suspiciously in other shops, so jewellers in the area have been alerted. We hope members of the public will help us identify the man." A one-armed man was later charged.
