COSTA RICA

The first World Conference of People in Contact with Extraterrestrials was held in July 1995 at Miramar de Puntarenas in Costa Rica.

Delegates from 10 countries linked hands to form five concentric circles around three fires and chanted, hoping their focused energy would attract extraterrestrials.

After about 40 minutes, it poured with rain, which the organisers said was 'a sign from heaven'.

Later it was claimed that four spaceships had appeared nearby, but most of the delegates did not see them.

All the baseballs used in the American major league is made in a factory in the town of Turrialba in Costa Rica.

The factory makes two million baseballs a year, each of which takes 15 minutes to hand-stitch.
