ALE

The Aberdeen brewery Brew Dog in July 2010 created 12 bottles of a super-strength ale which they placed inside the dead bodies of seven stoats, four squirrels and one hare and sold for £500 a bottle.

At 55% alcohol by volume, the brewers claimed it was the world's strongest beer.

A week later, however, the Dutch brewer Jan Nijboer produced a beer that was 60% alcohol.
